This is the best Indian food in Ocala which is saying something because all of the Indian places here are terrific! All of the food I've ever had here has been delicious. I've tried so many dishes - most vegetarian but I've had some meat dishes too. Their lamb entrees are lovely, the chicken is tender and juicy and I adore their biryani, naan, paratha roti, samosas and even the pappadums are the best! The prices on appetizers and breads are very reasonable, you pay a bit more for entrees. However, the portions are generous and I always have leftovers. The spice levels are true - mild is mild, medium is spicy and hot is HOT. The onion kulcha is the finest I've ever had. There is love in this food. I respect that, sincerely.

We had a great time at Akbar! As we walked in we were warmly greeted and immediately taken to our table! The space is very relaxed and there's plenty of seating! We also had our infant with us and his car seat fit in the booth! We had a great team taking care of us. My husband ordered the Whiskey sour, which he enjoyed! We ordered samosa apps and main courses; everything was delicious. We enjoy Indian food almost everywhere we go, so we know the traditional flavors associated with our meals. The flavors we experienced had a unique twist that we both found refreshing and tasty.

Akbar is unbeatable!! I have been on the lookout for an authentic Indian restaurant that doesn't break the bank like Amrit Palace does and I've finally found my new favorite spot!! The staff is very welcoming and extremely attentive to your every need, most restaurants I have to ask for more water but Akbar made sure I never went thirsty! The food is INCREDIBLE, and very filling. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and my partner ordered the Curry Goat with Garlic Naan and Garlic Naan with Cheese and we were both foaming at the mouth, we didn't know heaven could be a place on earth lol. Overall, I guarantee that your experience at Akbar will be just as good as mine was. We came to Akbar as strangers and left making friends.

First time eating here. We ordered samosas to start. Sampras were large but was ok. Would have been better if they had served it with some mint chutney instead of the tamarind and onion chutneys. For our entree, we had butter chicken, aloo Gohbi and lamb biryani. Also had an order of plain naan. The naan was light and fluffy but was a bit too oily. Taste profile was good. Butter chicken was delicious as was the aloo gobi. We ordered medium spice level- not spicy at all. Although the aloo gobi was spicier than the butter chicken. The biryani was ok. I've had more flavorful dish elsewhere. Rice flavor was a bit flat.

I was in Ocala for a few hours, and this was the only Indian restaurant open on a Monday. I was seated and served my food very quickly. I would say that dining there around 6pm was a good choice. I appreciate the fact that the servers were very polite and attentive. After ordering butter chicken, a side of roti and peshwari naan, it was brought to my table in maybe 10 minutes or less. The butter chicken tasted wonderful, but I do wish there was a tad bit more chicken in it. I was happy to have finally gotten a chance to try peshwari naan. It's a sweet treat filled with pineapple, cherries and coconut. Based on the food and the service, I'd say this is a great choice if you're looking for Indian cuisine!

What a great surprise in a strip shopping mall. We discovered this place and it was amazing. They bring out fresh naan and roti. The roti is filled with curry potatoes and onion's. Incredible The buffet has plenty of food to try. The spices were perfect. Everything tasted authentic. The owners were so accommodating and friendly. There's even a large banquet room they rent out for reasonable prices. Please support our local businesses!! It's worth your while.

Can't decide what to eat? Not sure what you like? The lunch buffet here is perfect. Try a little bit of everything! We went for lunch on a Tuesday at 11:30 right when the food was put out. Everyone was so friendly and happy to answer my inquisitive questions. I love Indian food but generally stick to the curries when I am not sure what is what. I loved the extensive variety of food and all the sauces and chutneys are amazing. Good stuff!
